SNIGGER

A Horror, murder mystery.

A coastal village is the setting for an halloween murder mystery in which  the killer murders

in the name of a dead-four-hundred-years-witch and succumbus. The question becomes

not so much why as, could it actually be the witch? Has she come back from the dead?

D. C. I. Dunn has his work cut out trying to bring the killer down but he also finds out he

has something in common with the killer, too.

Introduction.

As Dunn staggered backward his right elbow made contact with the door. He slammed into the wall and doorframe, the door swung shut tight into its allotted gap.

The flames raced across the ceiling, licking and flicking down at him, touching him and dancing about Dunn as he fought to shield his face from the intense heat.

Kim, her right arm still stretched outright and beckoning to him, stood at the window engulfed in flames and smiling at him. Dunn coughed and wheezed as his lungs filled with smoke.

Dunn grabbed for the door handle, his hand recoiling from the burning heat of the brass knob and he realised he was doomed to die there in that bedroom. There simply was no way out!

A snigger came to his ears through the crackle of fire and he understood, at last, that Kim and he were not alone in the old house. The Witch was there too, sniggering at his discomfort and distress, his alarm and hopelessness.
